The 1985 "Rock In Rio" festival

In the 80's, there was a emerging rock scene in Brazil. In particular, in 1985, the 1st edition of Rock in Rio took place with a impressive range of participant rock bands: Queen, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Scorpions, Ozzy Ousborne, Rod Stewart but also George Benson, Al Jarreau and others.

Many important Brazilian artists also participated : Gilberto Gil (of course), Ney Matogrosso, Rita Lee and some rising rock bands like Barão Vermelho and Paralamas do Sucesso.

Even if the band Ultraje a Rigor from São Paulo, did not participate, it was already a very popular band since the begining of the 80's.
